Best location on the mountain
Our group had a great time at the chalet. We were there for the week after Christmas and even though the snow was thin, the vacation was excellent. The 40 degree blue bird weather was nice to take in too. The chalet was clean and ready for us when we arrived, the staff up there couldn't have done a better job offering a hand whenever it was needed. The location is as convenient as it gets for accessing the slopes and location is just as described in the listing. The view out the front of the chalet over the huge deck is great and is just as you would expect from this location. The layout of the chalet is perfect for the square footage, well equipped kitchen area not too small but not too big to waste space, two separate den areas with big flat screens so football can coexist with sponge bob. Sleeping areas aren't anything special but they get the job done and they definitely accommodate most any group of 6 or 7 and maybe more depending on how cozy you all are with each other. Again, the best part of the chalet for us was the location, we had 2 young kids, one of which was skiing for the first time. If you have ever taught a 4 year old how to ski you can imagine the benefit of gearing up in the living room after breakfast and being on the snow 5 minutes later, no parking, no car seat with ski pants, no lines, no hiking. Not only so much less work for the adults but the kids will do so much better out there. We also had an infant along so being able to switch kid duties with the wife multiple times a day was a bonus too. Only recommendations would be to add some more lighting in the loft. Looking forward to returning in the future many more times.

We decided to go away for a last minute getaway and the chalet was a great escape from the city. Located at the top of the mountain, right next to the inn and across from the ski slopes and main lodge made this the ideal location. Parking was very easy and convenient, we didn't even need to use the snowcat to get to the chalet (but is was far enough from parking lot we didn't hear car noise). The chalet was well stocked with everything we need to cook. The decor is up-to-date with flat panels (3), docking station, new bedding, etc. We especially liked all the sledding areas near by. The managers were nice and helpful. The chalet was perfect for our family with enough room for everyone to have there own space. Looking forward to returning later in the season.

Perfect Thanksgiving Getaway!
So happy that we booked Chalet 1 for our Thanksgiving ski getaway! After years of staying in hotel rooms during our many visits to Mammoth, we finally booked at Mammoth Mountain Chalets. Absolutely the right decision. :) This was also our first time bringing our dog along on a ski trip. This is the perfect place for a well-behaved dog. He, like us, didn't want to leave. He made lots of friends on our frequent walks. The cabin has plenty of room for a small family or friends, with lots of room to relax (two sitting rooms). The fireplace in the front room is cozy. The PS2 in the back room provided evening entertainment. The full and well-supplied kitchen made it easy for us to fix meals (from simple breakfasts before hitting the slopes to a full Thanksgiving dinner). The photos in the listing gave us a very reliable impression - the cabin is exactly what we expected. The beds and baths come supplied with quality linens and the whole cabin was clean, organized and welcoming for our arrival. The upstairs bedroom has a convenient sink. The downstairs bedroom (with bunk beds) and the downstairs bathroom, with shower, worked very well for our small family. The onsite management team is charming. We can't wait to return! Note: Chalet 1 is very convenient to the Main Lodge, Inn, ski school, etc., which means it is not secluded. It was great getting up in the morning and watching the crews get the slopes ready. A quick walk across the Inn's parking lot gets you on to the Discovery (11) lift.

Home awat frim home
Staying in a hotel with 3 teenage boys had zero appeal to us. This chalet was the perfect option and everybody was happy. I'd be thrilled to stay there again.

The perfect chalet for any season vacation
Chalet 1 at the Mammoth Mountain Chalets (MMC) is perfect for my husband and I. It is located slope side so you can ski in and out. It has beautiful views of the ski hill. Unlike the other two small chalets at this resort chalet 1 offers more livable space inside. It has two comfortable seating areas with flat screen TVs. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare a meal. The pictures on the MMC's website do not really show the recent improvements that have been made to this chalet. We have stayed in chalet 1 often this past ski season and will also be coming there for a summer stay as well.

Summer Time Fun
We stayed at the chalet for a week during the summer & had a great time. The cabin was nice and was even better than we expected. During our trip we went horseback riding, fishing, & hiking. We even rented a pontoon boat at a lake and had a picnic lunch on the lake which our kids really liked. We just hung out at the cabin and relaxed too, the kids enjoyed walking around and collecting pine cones, sticks and rocks. The kids liked there being two living rooms & were happy to see video games in one, they thought that living room was theirs. At night we would have a fire in the wood burning stove, open the sliding glass door and it was like sitting around the campfire,we even made smores. Looking forward to spending another summer vacation in the chalet.

Great Ski in and out. Nice Views
This was our first time to Mammoth and what a great experience it was. We've stayed at other resorts and this was by far the best. Cant beat the location. The chalet had everything we needed and the kitchen was fully stocked- we cooked everynight. The slopes are easily accessible from this chalet, which was convenient because we could snowboard for a little bit, head over to the chalet for lunch and then hit the slopes again, without ever having to get in the car. One of the days it snowed and we decided to just hang out at the chalet. We walked up to the office (very short distance) and borrowed saucers so we could go sledding and be kids again. There were plenty of sledding areas around the chalet that we didn't have to walk a long distance to find a good trail. It was pretty cool to be able to sit in the living room, with a fire going, and watch the mountain and the snow falling. The beds were comfortable with cozy blankets. It was nice to see that the chalet was up to date with flat screen tvs and a docking station so we could plug in our phones/Ipods. We went down into town once while we were up there, and just hopped on the shuttle bus that runs from the main lodge into town and the Village. Can't wait to go back in 2013 and check this place out in the summer.

#1 Chalet!! Great Location
We had a wonderful stay in this chalet. Everything was clean and well kept. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. The sitting area was nice with a flat screen tv and the wood burning stove kept the place very cozy. The views from the chalet were breathtaking. We were able to stand on the deck and look out at the mountain. When it started to snow, we went inside and sat on the couch and watched it snow through the sliding glass window. During the day there were many spots to go sledding right near the chalet, so the walk was not far. It was nice that the walk from the parking lot to the chalet was short and easy, but far enough away so you didn't hear the cars coming and going. Upstairs in the loft was a queen bed and every morning we woke up to a view of the snow covered mountain tops. The downstairs bedroom had bunk beds for the kids, which they loved
