Fly fishers can choose from spring creeks ( Hot Creek and Upper Owens), still waters (Twin Lakes, Crowley Lake), freestone streams (Middle Fork of the San Joaquin and West Fork of the Walker), tall waters (Lower Owens River, Owens Gorge and East Fork of the Walker) and some year round fisheries . Horseback riding is a must in Mammoth. Horseback riding ranges from a one hour guided tour to several days if you feel adventurous. Your horseback ride can take you through streams, by waterfalls, lakes, gorges and forests of Aspen trees to secluded areas where the High Sierra views are breathtaking and humbling. Nature at it’s best and in its glory. Your eyes will feast on the colors of Mammoth which range from deep rich , blue, gold, rust, orange and silvers. There are several horseback riding facilities that we can recommend in Mammoth, Crowley and June Lake that can offer you the taste of Mammoth on horseback whether you are a child or adult, beginner or expert.

The Eastern Sierra high country of Mammoth Lakes offers approximately 15 pack outfitters. The Mammoth lakes pack outfitters trips range from half day up to a week. The following pack outfitters are available in Mammoth Lakes area. Mammoth Lakes Outfitter, McGee Creek Pack Station, Convict Lake Resort, Redís meadow/Agnew Meadows Pack Train, Rock Creek Pack station and Frontier Pack Train.

Mammoth is known in the summer for its renowned mountain biking trails. Mammoth Ski Area in the summer transforms to challenge mountain bike enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels. From the top of Mammoth Mountain, the Kamikaze trail at 11,053feet challenges the mountain biker to conquer it, better be an advanced mountain biker to do this one. The Mammoth Bike Park features  a 90 mile single track network of trails. For the weekend warrior on the mountain bike with the more relaxed approach there are one of many other trails that transect the front country of the forest. The highest 18-hole golf course in California is located Mammoth Lakes. At 8,000 feet elevation in the Sierra Nevada Range, the Sierra Star Golf Club is without a doubt one of a kind. Sporting views of the mountains and Mammoth Mountain ski area from many holes. Sierra Star Golf course is open to the public and provides enjoyment for golfers of all levels.
